Trust; Leading at the Speed of Trust

Trust appears twice in our Core Values Statement; "Trustworthy Business Principles" and...."building trust,..."

We have been talking about Covey's book "The Speed of Trust" and some of the its behaviors and other aspects over the last year. During this time, I've attempted to practice many of the behaviors and have worked at "extending smart trust" and "having a propensity of trust."

I admit, this has not been easy, yet it was in the midst of the industry changes this past year that I began realizing the importance of Covey's content. We were experiencing rapid industry changes, our primary lender was performing a business analysis on our company, and new guidelines were being imposed on us "after-the-fact."

Thank God we realized we needed to "behave our way through these problems" and "listen first" and "demonstrate respect" and "talk straight."

Last week I attended a workshop on Leading at the Speed of Trust and while there were numerous ahas and uh-ohs, the one that stuck with me the most was stated in the first 15 minutes; "you are not going to learn anything new the next 3 days because everything we are going to talk about is common-sense, just not common-practice."

As we practice Leading at the Speed of Trust, I'd like to hear your comments.

Thanks,

Danny

This has got to be one of the most useful books I've ever read.

It is sooooo common sense, but yet, I do acknowledge I don't follow all the principles.

But I WILL.

Thanks for showing us this book!
